Frequently Asked Questions
What is Forestry Mulching?
Forestry mulching is a land management technique where specialized machinery uses a rotary drum or disc with cutting teeth to shred vegetation, small trees, and brush, turning it into a layer of organic mulch on the ground. This process clears land efficiently, minimizes ground disturbance, reduces erosion, and improves soil health by returning organic matter to the land. Common applications include clearing rights-of-way, reclaiming land, maintaining trails, and preventing wildfires by reducing underbrush and "ladder fuels".
Do you work with domestic animals (dogs and cats)?
No, we do not trap, remove, or work with any species of domestic animals. John is a licensed Wildlife Damage Control Agent and will work with some wildlife species, but we do not do any kind of work regarding feral cats, stray dogs, etc. Please call your local county Animal Control Service for issues involving domestic animals.
How much land can you clear in a day?
Every job site is different, so there is really no clear-cut (excuse the pun!) answer that will cover every scenario. It all depends on the size of the material to be mulched and how much of that material is present. A site might only be 1 acre, but if it has very dense stand of mid-story trees and a very thick understory, then it could take a day and a half or two days to finish. However, if a 3 acre site has smaller underbrush and small saplings, then it could still take a day or two but we would be working on a much larger area.
What areas do you work in?
We are located in Greenville, NC and will generally travel up to 60 miles for both mulching and wildlife jobs. We provide free estimates for any new jobs and are always happy to meet with landowners to discuss the goals of you project.
